Taino Woods Update – December 2021
Greetings Tribe,
With only a few of the leaves still left to fall, the quietness of the Winter Solstice is quickly covering the Land, filling our hearts and blanketing our minds.
Ceremony:
At the beginning of this month, we held an intimate, but powerful sweat lodge ceremony. As a gathering of four, we were able to offer more of our traditional teachings and share in the experience of each beautiful step of this sacred ceremony just as our Seven Sweat Apprenticeship offers. Participants were able to learn about and practice the significance of stone catching, cedar blessing the lodge, water pouring, and sacred prayer. Jesse and Chantel attended two additional lodges this month within our larger community during which they lit and tended the fire to send off the sacred Bear into hibernation. What an honor and beautiful gift to have such a community to gather and pray with. Bo Matum Great Spirit!
Looking ahead, we have our first sweat of the new year on Saturday January 15th! Great for the immune system, most especially in Winter, this sweat lodge is one you don’t want to miss! In honor of the Full Moon, this is an opportunity to sit in the fullness of our lives; to feel deep gratitude for our many blessings; and to recommit ourselves to what matters most.
